i would like to brew a batch or two of root beer but i would like to do it from scratch can any one help?

You might want to give that a shot. If you're referring to using something other than 'root beer extract' I'd suggest checking out the history section, some very interesting information is there... and if you read close enough you just might find out why you don't see the 'old' recipes with ingredients you might not be able to get easily.
