I'm across the country in suburban Philadelphia (Springfield, Delaware County) for a few days. By any miracle can any members suggest where I might look for a bottle or two of good root beer? I'd love to get my hands on some Milligan's Island.

A friend just gave me the unfamiliar "Natural Brew Draft Root Beer". Not bad - on the sweet side with modest carbonation, but I enjoyed savoring this bottle.

Wild question: can root beer safely travel in checked luggage, or is it just an explosion waiting to happen?

probably too late, but you should go to Poor Richard's Pub in Philadelphia for their fresh draft root beer. and amazing ice creams!

you can also check Giant supermarkets for Appalachian Brewing Co.
otherwise i am not sure of exact locations. i am sure you can find some Hank's around and maybe some Olde Philadelphia.

hope it worked out ok!

Alas, I flew back to California last night.

Left the fourth bottle of Natural Brew behind - I decided it was too sweet and not rooty enough. The first bottle was nice, as I had not had any soft drink for a couple weeks, but the subsequent ones didn't give as much pleasure.

I'll keep your message in mind for my next trip.

Whoops - should have put this in the last message.

I can't find a facility of that name with either a Google search or a Yelp search. Are you certain of the name?
